English Wedding Awards - Shortlisted

Extremely happy to discover that I have been shortlisted for an award in The English Wedding Awards 2013.

So I must say a huge thank you to anyone who took the time to vote for me over the last few months, it means an awful lot and I very much appreciate it. I'll find out if I win at the end of August, so fingers crossed.

Nicole & Clive's wedding on the Isle of Wight

My review today is from the beautiful wedding of Nicole and Clive who got married on the Isle of Wight. We were lucky enough to spend a couple of days enjoying this lovely island whilst celebrating a really personal and gorgeous wedding. Nicole got ready at home and then made the short journey to the church in what is officially the smallest bridal car I have yet to see. After they tied the knot in what was a very relaxed and informal church service we made the drive across the island to the little gloster restaurant and bar by the sea. As the music festival was on at the same time there were specially made maps for all the guests to make sure no one ended up joining the festival instead of the beachside reception. Clive and Nicole are both avid triathletes so the wedding had a clear cycling theme topped off with Clive presenting his new bride with a brand new and very pink bike during the speeches. An ice cream van arrived to finish off what was a really relaxed wedding day celebration with all the guests enjoying a cornet or two whilst watching the sun go down.

Sarah & Michael's wedding at Stoke Place

A beautiful and very hot day greeted this lovely couple in the morning. Sarah got ready at home with her entourage of bridesmaids and then made the journey to Stoke Place via a Campervan for the bridesmaids and a VW Beetle for her and her father.

Michael awaited at the venue in a beautifully decorated room that matched the sunshine theme of the wedding day with rich yellows accenting the details. After a lovely ceremony it was out to be entertained by a magician (well more a mind reader actually) and enjoy the sunshine and beautiful grounds of Stoke Place. Needless to say there were plenty of picture opportunities at every turn. After the wedding breakfast, speeches were made, tears were shed, ice cream bicycles arrived, music was played and the dance floor was packed. A gorgeous couple and wedding to photograph.

AGWPJA Q1 Winning Images 2013

It is with some delight that I discovered two of my pictures from this years weddings so far have won awards in the latest Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Associations (AGWPJA) quarterly competition. The Judges comments on each image are fantastic too. Louise (whose wedding you can see via the previous weddings sidebar) is the 'nonchalant bride having her hair done' and the other image which also graces the AGWPJA homepage is of Georgie sharing a tender moment with her Grandmother (her wedding is also on the sidebar too). A great way to start the week!

Kim & Oliver's wedding at Ramster Hall

Ramster Hall is a new venue for me and a beautiful one at that. The grounds are very pretty especially at this time of year and the venue itself has a real sense of charm running through it's veins. The gorgeous Kim got ready just up the hill from the venue and after Oli had arrived from the pub with his groomsmen it was time for Kim to make what must be the shortest drive in wedding history. The reason for which was the unfortunate timing of heavy rain, this however did nothing to dampen the celebration that then ensued. As ever in England the rain came and went and the guests and couple made full use of the breaks in the weather to create some fantastic photographic opportunities. It is also worth mentioning that this wedding party were probably the keenest dancers I've ever seen. Led by our beautiful couple the band had hardly struck a note after the first dance before the whole dance floor was swarmed upon by every generation you could think of. An amazing atmosphere, testament to what a great wedding day it was.
