Sherryl & James's Wedding at Tylney Hall Hotel

Sherryl and James were due to get married in France but unfortunately events conspired against them and in a hectic six weeks they proved it was possible to organise a fantastic wedding in no time at all. Their ceremony was held at the Holy Ghost Church in Basingstoke and the reception was at the beautiful Tylney Hall Hotel in Rotherwick near Hook. Sherryl and her family got ready at Tylney Hall and after a lovely ceremony at the church it was back again to celebrate in style. The weather certainly played it's part in this wedding with ushers really earning their drinks at the end of the evening with brollies permanently at the ready. A great couple, lovely venue and fantastic wedding celebration to photograph.

Louise & Gareth's Wedding at Lainston House Hotel, Winchester

This fabulous wedding was at Lainston House Hotel in Winchester and was the celebration of the equally fabulous Louise and Gareth. Louise, her family and bridesmaids all got ready at Lainston in the morning and then made the short journey to St Mary's Church in Crawley where Gareth awaited. After a very personal service (Gareth's Father was a major part of the religious ceremony) everyone dodged the rain showers back to Lainston House. The beautiful house proved a wonderful place to hold a reception and the guests even enjoyed watching West Ham turn up to stay before their match the following day. Suffice to say there was dancing until the small hours and photo opportunities a plenty.

Georgie and Paul's Wedding in Merstham

Georgie and Paul were married on pretty much the first day of Spring. I actually felt warm at this wedding which is something to report in itself.…The gorgeous Georgie got ready at home and then walked down the hill to the church with her entourage, making for quite a scene. Paul and the guests awaited at St Katharine's Church for a beautiful ceremony where everyone was in full voice for the hymns which was lovely to hear. After the ceremony it was off to the Grandad's home and a special marquee that had been installed just for his Grandaughter's wedding. A real English country wedding reception followed and the relaxed atmosphere flowed right through the afternoon and late into the evening.

AGWPJA Photographer of the Year - 3rd Place

photo awpja_POY_zps09079e67.jpg It was with a great deal of delight that I discovered that I have come third in the prestigious AGWPJA Wedding Photographer of the Year competition. This competition draws entries from some of the best wedding photographers across the world and is awarded based on results across a quarterly series of competitions throughout the year. Regular readers will have seen my previous posts about winning images in the quarterly competitions (you can see them via the side bar under Press).

From the AG website:
'The Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association is comprised of outstanding wedding photographers, who are at the forefront of the wedding photography industry when it comes to enhancing images. The chief objective of the AG|WPJA is to provide members with a platform where the finest enhanced, manipulated and/or artistic wedding photojournalism in the world is spotlighted and promoted for the bride and groom.

The AG|WPJA establishes and upholds high standards that are taken into consideration during the judging process for our wedding photography contests. Using all artistic tools at their disposal, members skillfully enliven their work in post production processing.'

To come third in this International competition is one of my proudest moments to date. Members of the AGWPJA are some of best known and talented wedding photographers in the world so to earn third place overall in such good company feels very special.

Not to get all Oscar like but I have to say a big thank you to all my fantastic bride and grooms, the venues and their staff and all the colleagues I have worked with on so many amazing weddings. Above all thank you to my family for all their love and support. Time to celebrate!!

Dartmoor

Just got back from a half term holiday to the Sporting Manor in Devon and am completely shattered. More activities than you could possibly fit in within the five day window but boy did we try. My favourite was Waterpolo (how often do you get to try that!) and with our trip to watch the Waterpolo semi finals at the Olympics last year it seemed fitting to give it a go. Our family team lost but it was a close fought thing.

Incredibly lucky with the weather we also signed up for the walk over Dartmoor and never without camera and lugging my tripod for miles I managed to get some landscape photography captured too, it's difficult not to be inspired by the beauty of the landscape here. I even managed the obligatory game of golf but this time with my Dad and Son for company so three generations on the golf course for the first time ever. The perfect end to a brilliant half term break. Here's some pictures from the walk. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
