An absolutely stunning day, one of the hottest I've photographed in England full of so much colour, love, fun and happiness. This wedding blended the quintessential elements of an English country wedding with the traditional beauty of Chinese customs like the tea ceremony. Brilliant to photograph from start to finish.
Bronwyn and Charlie were married at Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral, which is a beautiful building in the heart of Old Portsmouth. After the wedding the reception was held at HMS Nelson WardRoom which is steeped in history and again another gorgeous building. During the reception the couple and guests were treated to outdoor cocktails and music from the D Day Girls whose outfits perfectly matched the Naval essence of this wedding. A great wedding full of history, beauty and of course love.
Liz and Jonathan were married at the lovely Stationers Hall in the City of London on Saturday. After getting ready down the road at The Rookery Hotel, Liz made her way to the venue by vintage car. A beautiful service was then held which included a very personal blessing and then it was outside to enjoy some summer sunshine and warmth (distinctly lacking so far this year!). After drinks and canapes it was back inside for the wedding breakfast and speeches. Before the first dance Liz even had the nerve to sing a very special song to her husband which went down an absolute storm. A fantastic couple and wonderful wedding to photograph.
Charlotte and John were married at St Olav's Norwegian Church in Rotherhithe, the guests then enjoyed a scenic tour around the London landmarks on their way to the reception held in Tower Bridge. As you can imagine this was an iconic and amazing venue to hold a wedding reception and as the couple got engaged at the bridge too it made for some wonderful symmetry too. Charlotte is from Norway and John is a Scot so the coming together of both friends, families and traditions made this a unique and wonderful wedding to photograph.
Every quarter the Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalists Association
(AGWPJA) has a competition for the best images from it's members. This
draws entries from all over the world as you can see from their
website. I was delighted to discover
today that one of my images came in 2nd place in the getting ready
category and I also had a second image come 19th too. You can see the
second place and nineteenth placed images below and the judges comments for the piano image were as follows:
'This picture is beautiful. I love the composition, the toning
complements the image well. The young woman is well-placed in the frame.
I think the photo is just simply elegant.'
